Olivia Rodrigo is driving into a new era.

The "Drivers License" singer, 23, on April 2 unveiled her highly anticipated third studio album: "You Seem Pretty Sad For a Girl So in Love," which will drop on June 12.

"I am so proud of this record and I can't wait for you to hear it," Rodrigo said in a release. She also shared the album artwork, which showed the singer wearing a pink dress while upside down on a swing.

This will be Rodrigo's follow-up to her sophomore album "Guts," which she released in September 2023 to critical acclaim. In recent weeks, the Grammy-winning pop star had been cryptically hinting that an album announcement was imminent, including by mysteriously wiping all of the posts from her Instagram account.

Rodrigo rose to fame as a star of the Disney+ series "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series" and transitioned into a solo music career in 2021 with her wildly popular debut single "Drivers License." The emotional breakup ballad, which sparked speculation of a love triangle involving Rodrigo's costar Joshua Bassett and pop singer Sabrina Carpenter, became a sensation on TikTok and hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart. Rodrigo topped the chart again a few months later with her single "Good 4 U."

In May 2021, Rodrigo dropped her debut album "Sour," which made history as the most streamed album in a week by a female artist on Spotify. At the 2022 Grammys, Rodrigo won best new artist, best pop vocal album for "Sour" and best pop solo performance for "Drivers License."

Rodrigo followed up "Sour" in 2023 with "Guts," and the lead single "Vampire" became her third song to top the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart. This made Rodrigo, then 20, the youngest artist with three No. 1 songs on the chart.

"Guts" was later nominated for album of the year and best pop vocal album at the Grammys, while "Vampire" earned nominations for song of the year, record of the year and best pop solo performance.

Since the release of "Guts," Rodrigo headlined the Glastonbury Festival in June 2025 and dropped a "Live from Glastonbury" live album in December. She wrapped her 102-show Guts World Tour in July 2025 and brought the album's era to a close in a New York City show in October.

"This is definitely going to be the last 'Guts' show, so it's kind of awesome to bookend this chapter," she said at the show. "Can't wait to get back on the road one of these days."

Fans had been eagerly anticipating details about Rodrigo's third studio album, nicknamed "OR3," and breathlessly speculating about what four-letter word she might use for the title. Popular guesses ranged from "Luck" to "Love," though in the end, Rodrigo broke from her one-word naming convention.

While Rodrigo had remained mum on the title, she previously teased what fans could expect from the album in a interview with British Vogue published in March 2026. She said the album would be filled with "sad love songs," telling the outlet she realized "all of my favourite romantic love songs were beautiful because they had a tinge of fear or yearning in them."
