Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith are using a private judge to finalize their custody arrangements almost a year after finalizing their divorce.
According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, the former couple, who shares 5-year-old daughter Juno, have hired a private judge to oversee their custody battle. The judge will also preside over future custody and child support changes.
Reps for Jackson and Turner-Smith did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.
When Jackson and Turner-Smith finalized their divorce in May 2025, the two agreed that Jackson would pay $2,787 in monthly child support. They also agreed to joint custody of their daughter.

However, just one month later, in June, Jackson filed an emergency motion alleging that his ex-wife had changed their daughter Juno's school without his permission.
In his declaration, Jackson claimed that Turner-Smith asserted it's "no big deal to force Juno to start over with a new school" and that he's concerned that "Jodie is attempting to create a scenario where Juno travels with her rather than attending a traditional school."

At the time, Jackson requested that the court order Juno to keep attending the school she's been going to for the next academic year and asked for joint consent with Turner-Smith for any subsequent school changes.
In October, the two called off their divorce trial, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE. The Tron: Ares actress's lawyer filed on Oct. 14 to ask that the former couple's trial, which was scheduled to begin on Oct. 15, be taken off the court's calendar.

The documents showed that Turner-Smith was working with Jackson outside of the courtroom to find a custody deal for their daughter.
"[Turner-Smith and Jackson] are in the process of negotiating a custody judgment. The parties will return to the privately compensated temporary judge to resolve any impasses in the proposed custody judgment," read the documents.
After four years of marriage, Turner-Smith filed for divorce in October 2023.
In October 2024, Turner-Smith opened up about co-parenting with Jackson in her GLAMOUR Woman of the Year cover story, explaining that things can get "complicated."
"It’s an adjustment period for anyone when they split up with someone because you’re used to being with your child all the time,” she said. “But nobody hands you a manual. Everyone’s trying to figure it out."
